EXECUTION

– This is an individual workout
– The workout starts with the barbell on the floor
– Each exercise needs to be completed before advancing to the next movement
– There are no scaled options for Masters

SCORING

The team score is the total time for all 12 individuals (team composition 7 males, 5 females and a master of each sex, one of which 40+ and the other 35+) to complete the workout.

EQUIPMENT

1 x 20kg bar or 1 x 15kg bar (females only) with plates for the appropriate weight.

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

(1) SHOULDER TO OVERHEAD
A shoulder press, push press, push jerk or split jerk may be used, as long as the elbow, shoulder, hips and knees are fully extended, and the bar finishes directly over the body with the feet in line.

(2) BAR BURPEES
At the bottom position the athlete must be parallel to the bar with their chest and hips in contact with the ground. The athlete must then jump over the bar with two feet and land with two feet. Stepping over the bar, one-foot take-offs, and one-foot landings are not permitted.

(3) FRONT SQUATS
In the Front squat, the barbell must be held in the Front rack position. At the bottom, the crease of the hips must pass below the height of the kneecap. At the top, the knees and hips must be completely open with the barbell in control. The barbell must be taken from the floor. A Squat Clean is permitted, but not required.

(4) THRUSTERS
This is a standard barbell thruster in which the barbell moves from the bottom of a squat, with the barbell in the front rack position to full lockout overhead in one movement. The hip crease must pass below the knees. A squat clean into the thruster is allowed if the bar is on the ground. At the top, the barbell must be over the centre of the body with the hips, knees, arms fully extended and under control.

PRIZE

There is a separate prize for the winning team of Qualifier 01 of £500.

JUDGING & VIDEO SUBMISSION

Teams DO NOT need to video their team’s workouts to record a valid Qualifier 1 score submission. Team captains (who submit the team scores) must, however, personally ensure that movement standards are adhered to and all submitted scores are legitimate. To be eligible for the winning prize, however, you will need to evidence your scores with videos (and SiD HQ will get in touch with leading teams to see these once Q1 closes). We, therefore, strongly encourage you all to record these videos and ideally, to upload
them to your team media page (for all to see!).

Videos should be filmed to the following standard. Prior to starting, film the plates and the barbells being used so the loads can be clearly seen. Videos should be uncut and unedited. A stopwatch display should be in the frame throughout the entire workout. Shoot the video from such an angle that the movement standard is clear to see and be sure you have enough battery life and memory to record your video.

EXECUTION

– This is a pairs workout
– Pairs can be any age/sex combination
– The workout starts with the barbell on the floor
– Each exercise needs to be completed before advancing to the next movement
– Only one athlete may be working at a time
– Working athletes must tag non-working athletes on each transition
– Sub-teams must use a Concept 2 Rowing Erg
– The rowing machine monitor must be reset after each row
– No minimum work requirement
– There are no scaled options for Masters

SCORING

The team score is the total time for all 6 pairs (team composition 7 males, 5 females and a master of each sex, one of which 40+ and the other 35+) to complete the workout.

EQUIPMENT

MM pair 1x 20kg bar, multiple toe-to-bar stations, 1x rower
FF pair 1x15kg bar, multiple toe-to-bar stations, 1x rower
MF pair 1x15kg bar, 1x 20kg bar, multiple toe-to-bar stations, 1x rower

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

(1) DEADLIFT
A standard deadlift with the hands outside the knees (sumo deadlifts are not allowed). The athlete may employ any grip. Starting on the floor the bar is lifted until the hips and knees reach full extension with the shoulders behind the bar. The arms must be straight throughout the movement. Dropping the bar after completion of the repetition is permitted. Hitching is permitted as long as full extension of the hips and knees is eventually achieved. The barbell must be placed on the ground between transitions.

(2) TOE-TO-BAR
In the Toe-to-Bar, the athlete must go from a full hang with the heels behind the vertical plane of the pull-up bar, to having the toes touch the pull-up bar. Both feet must be in contact with the bar at the same time, inside the hands. The arms and hips must be fully extended at the bottom and the feet must be brought back behind the bar and behind the body.

(3) ROW
Teams must use a Concept 2 Rowing Erg. Athletes do not have to insert their feet into the straps of the rower. The athlete working can be assisted getting in and out of the foot plates by their partner only. The monitor must start on zero each time the athletes return to the rower.
