EXECUTION

– This is an individual workout
– The workout starts with the barbell on the floor
– Each exercise needs to be completed before advancing to the next movement
– There are no scaled options for Masters

SCORING

The team score is the total time for all 12 individuals (team composition 7 males, 5 females and a master of each sex, one of which 40+ and the other 35+) to complete the workout.

EQUIPMENT

1 x 20kg bar or 1 x 15kg bar (females only) with plates for the appropriate weight.

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

(1) SHOULDER TO OVERHEAD
A shoulder press, push press, push jerk or split jerk may be used, as long as the elbow, shoulder, hips and knees are fully extended, and the bar finishes directly over the body with the feet in line.

(2) BAR BURPEES
At the bottom position the athlete must be parallel to the bar with their chest and hips in contact with the ground. The athlete must then jump over the bar with two feet and land with two feet. Stepping over the bar, one-foot take-offs, and one-foot landings are not permitted.

(3) FRONT SQUATS
In the Front squat, the barbell must be held in the Front rack position. At the bottom, the crease of the hips must pass below the height of the kneecap. At the top, the knees and hips must be completely open with the barbell in control. The barbell must be taken from the floor. A Squat Clean is permitted, but not required.

(4) THRUSTERS
This is a standard barbell thruster in which the barbell moves from the bottom of a squat, with the barbell in the front rack position to full lockout overhead in one movement. The hip crease must pass below the knees. A squat clean into the thruster is allowed if the bar is on the ground. At the top, the barbell must be over the centre of the body with the hips, knees, arms fully extended and under control.

PRIZE

There is a separate prize for the winning team of Qualifier 01 of £500.

JUDGING & VIDEO SUBMISSION

Teams DO NOT need to video their team’s workouts to record a valid Qualifier 1 score submission. Team captains (who submit the team scores) must, however, personally ensure that movement standards are adhered to and all submitted scores are legitimate. To be eligible for the winning prize, however, you will need to evidence your scores with videos (and SiD HQ will get in touch with leading teams to see these once Q1 closes). We, therefore, strongly encourage you all to record these videos and ideally, to upload
them to your team media page (for all to see!).

Videos should be filmed to the following standard. Prior to starting, film the plates and the barbells being used so the loads can be clearly seen. Videos should be uncut and unedited. A stopwatch display should be in the frame throughout the entire workout. Shoot the video from such an angle that the movement standard is clear to see and be sure you have enough battery life and memory to record your video.

– This is a pairs workout
– Pairs can be any age/sex combination
– The workout starts with the barbell on the floor
– Each exercise needs to be completed before advancing to the next movement
– Only one athlete may be working at a time
– Working athletes must tag non-working athletes on each transition
– Sub-teams must use a Concept 2 Rowing Erg
– The rowing machine monitor must be reset after each row
– No minimum work requirement
– There are no scaled options for Masters

SCORING

The team score is the total time for all 6 pairs (team composition 7 males, 5 females and a master of each sex, one of which 40+ and the other 35+) to complete the workout.

EQUIPMENT

MM pair 1x 20kg bar, multiple toe-to-bar stations, 1x rower
FF pair 1x15kg bar, multiple toe-to-bar stations, 1x rower
MF pair 1x15kg bar, 1x 20kg bar, multiple toe-to-bar stations, 1x rower

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

(1) DEADLIFT
A standard deadlift with the hands outside the knees (sumo deadlifts are not allowed). The athlete may employ any grip. Starting on the floor the bar is lifted until the hips and knees reach full extension with the shoulders behind the bar. The arms must be straight throughout the movement. Dropping the bar after completion of the repetition is permitted. Hitching is permitted as long as full extension of the hips and knees is eventually achieved. The barbell must be placed on the ground between transitions.

(2) TOE-TO-BAR
In the Toe-to-Bar, the athlete must go from a full hang with the heels behind the vertical plane of the pull-up bar, to having the toes touch the pull-up bar. Both feet must be in contact with the bar at the same time, inside the hands. The arms and hips must be fully extended at the bottom and the feet must be brought back behind the bar and behind the body.

(3) ROW
Teams must use a Concept 2 Rowing Erg. Athletes do not have to insert their feet into the straps of the rower. The athlete working can be assisted getting in and out of the foot plates by their partner only. The monitor must start on zero each time the athletes return to the rower.

– Sub-teams can be any age/sex combination
– The wallball can be held for the start of the workout
– Each exercise needs to be completed before advancing to the next movement
– Only one athlete may be working at a time
– Working athletes must tag non-working athletes on each transition
– All three sub-teams do not need to complete the workout at the same time
– No minimum work requirement per athlete and the rep scheme can be split as the teams wish
– There are no scaled options for Masters
– THIS WORKOUT NEEDS TO BE VIDEOED (see details below)

SCORING

The team score is the total time for all three sub-teams to complete the workout (team composition 7 males, 5 females and a master of each sex, one of which 40+ and the other 35+) to complete the workout.

EQUIPMENT

MMMM sub-team 1x 9kg wallball, 1x 24” box, 1x 20kg bar, weight plates (60kg/85kg), multiple bar muscle up stations.

FFFF sub-team 1x 6kg wallball, 1x 20” box, 1x 15kg bar, weight plates (40kg/55kg), multiple bar muscle up stations.

Mixed sex sub-team 1x 6kg wallball, 1x 9kg wallball, 1x 24” box, 1×20” box, 1x 15kg bar, 1x 20kg bar, weight plates (40kg/55kg) (60kg/85kg), multiple bar muscle up stations.

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

(1) WALLBALL
The medicine ball must be taken from the bottom of a squat, hip crease below the knee, and thrown to hit the specified target. The ball must contact the front-face of the target. If the ball hits the bottom or top edge of the target or does not hit the target at all, it is a no rep. The rep is counted when the ball contacts the target. If the ball is dropped, it must come to a full stop on the ground before the athlete may pick it up for the next rep.

(2) BOX JUMP OVERS
The athlete must jump on the box from both feet and land on both feet. Only the feet may come into contact with the box. One footed jumping or stepping over is not permitted. The rep finishes when the athlete has landed on the other side of the box with both feet.

(3) CLEAN AND JERK
The Clean and Jerk must be completed in two movements – a clean/power clean and then a press/push press/push jerk, etc. The bar begins on the ground. The bar must contact the shoulders before the bar is moved into the overhead position. The movement is executed in two distinct movements: a clean/power clean and then a press/push press/push jerk, etc. Snatching is not permitted. A press, push press, push jerk or split jerk may be used as long as the elbow, shoulder, hips, and knees are fully extended, and the bar finishes directly over the body with the feet in-line. If the press, etc, is missed but brought back to the front rack the athlete may re-attempt the press, etc, without taking the bar back to the floor.

(4) BAR MUSCLE UPS
The arms must be fully extended at the bottom of the bar muscle up. At the top the elbows must be fully locked out with weight supported above the bar. Feet may not rise above the horizontal plain of the bar at any point. Roll or up rise to support are not allowed.

JUDGING & VIDEO SUBMISSION

Teams MUST VIDEO each of the three sub-team workouts to record a valid Qualifier 3 score submission. Team captains (who submit the team scores) must, personally ensure that movement standards are adhered to and all submitted scores are legitimate.

Videos should be filmed to the following standard. Prior to starting, film the equipment being used so the loads can be clearly seen. Videos should be uncut and unedited. A stopwatch display should be in the frame throughout the entire workout. Shoot the video from such an angle that the movement standard is clear to see and be sure you have enough battery life and memory to record your video.

All three videos should then be uploaded to team’s media pages on the Strength in Depth website.
